One of the most influential UK game publishers who could be labelled "Electronic Arts of Europe," Virgin has long been at the forefront of game publishing since late 1980s. The company has published hundreds of games that span almost every computer and console system imaginable. Its formidable marketing clout helped launch the career of many developers, including Westwood Studios, Synergistic, and many more. Virgin Interactive was acquired by French publisher Titus in late 1999. Titus has since renamed the division "Avalon Interactive," burying the Virgin name for good.
