    I thought I'd take a look at this one.

    I encountered the same problems, everything looks ok until you try to fight the aliens (The "Loading" screen and then blackness).

    Try this...

    Assuming that xcomapoc.exe is in a folder on drive c: called games\xcom3.

    Create a subfolder called C:\games\xcom3\scenario

    I also created one called C:\games\xcom3\savegame

    It might create that one itself when you go to save, but I had already done it so I don't know if it makes any difference or not.

    This gets it passed the black screen and into the battle.

    Happy Gaming!

    1. Get VBEPlus: vbeplus.rar.

    2. Copy vbeplus.exe and vbeplus.cfg into your X-MEN directory. Then edit xmen.bat to make it look like this:

           @echo off
           SET DOS4GVM=VIRTUALSIZE#9216 MINMEM#6144 MAXMEM#23552 MINSWAP#5120
           VBEPLUS.EXE
           XMENPC.EXE.

    Comments from the Author of VBEPlus:

    "Several users have reported that loading VBEPlus and/or UniRefresh solves the problems. I have once downloaded the 8bit version of XMen and confirmed that only after loading VBEPlus the game will run. (didn't matter what resolutions VBEPlus added, as long as it was loaded did XMen run well). I am not sure why this helps."
